Cuckoo Bloom Hybrid Filter: Algorithm and Hardware Architecture for High Performance Satellite Internet Protocol Route Lookup

The next-generation satellite Internet Protocol (IP) router is required to achieve tens of millions route lookups per second, since services based on low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations have become a reality. Due the limitation hardware resources satellites and high reliability requirements for equipment, new IP lookup architecture proposed in this paper. uses Bloom cuckoo filter-based structure called hybrid filter (CBHF), which guarantees only one off-chip memory access lookup, accelerate Prefix-Route Trie (PR-Trie) algorithm. has been evaluated through both behavioral simulation C++ language implementation Verilog description (HDL). Our results show that can single-port throughput beyond 13 Gbps field programmable gate array (FPGA) board with single DDR3 chip when operating at 200 MHz. In addition, resource utilization FPGA shows also supports triple modular redundancy (TMR) enhance reliability.
